Elephant grass is a plant of tropical origin with high biomass-production potential that stands out today as an alternative energy source. The potential of its genotypes depends on the genotype × environment interaction. The objective of this study was to estimate the genotype × environment interaction and compare stability methods in elephant grass for biomass production in a biannual cutting regime. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with two replicates and evaluations of 73 elephant-grass genotypes in six cuts. Aquaculture of carnivorous species has strongly relied on fish meal and fish oil for feed formulation; however, greater replacement by terrestrial plant-based products is occurring now. This rapid change in dietary environment has been a major revolution and has to be taken into consideration in breeding programs. The present study analyzes potential consequences of this nutritional tendency for selective breeding by estimating genetic parameters of BW and growth rates estimated by the thermal growth coefficient (TGC) over different periods with extremely different diets. Genotype×environment interaction in feeding systems and sire countries for Holsteins OAK

北海道のホルスタイン初産個体の産乳形質に関して,飼養形態間および種雄牛の国籍間における遺伝と環境の交互作用を調査した.表型値に対する父牛の予測伝達能力の回帰係数を推定し,スケーリング効果の有無を調べた.さらに,飼養形態のみにおいて,各飼養形態の同一形質を別形質とみなし,アニマルモデルにより遺伝相関を推定した.飼養形態は放牧,舎飼いならびに不明の3クラス,種雄牛の国籍は日本,アメリカ,カナダおよびその他の4クラスに分類した.顕著なスケーリング効果が,放牧で確認された.種雄牛の国籍に関する回帰係数は,アメリカおよびその他で1を超え,カナダでは乳タンパク質量以外で有意に1を下回った.日本では,0.92~0.95であった.飼養形態間の遺伝相関は各組み合わせで0.98~0.99であった.放牧でスケーリング効果があったが,遺伝相関の結果は,飼養形態の違いを考慮する必要がないことを示唆した.

Sea bass is a major species in Mediterranean aquaculture, but has a distribution area ranging from North Atlantic to South Mediterranean, with a population structure previously revealed by population genetics. To test the farming performances of wild sea bass populations, we produced a partial diallel cross mating scheme, using sires originating from North Atlantic (NAT), South Atlantic (SAT), West Mediterranean (WEM), North-East Mediterranean (NEM) and South-East Mediterranean (SEM).
