Acceptance of dishes based on mechanically separated meat of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) in a public school, Brazil. Repositório Alice
ALMEIDA, H. C. G.; MACIEL, E. da S.; QUARESMA, F. R. P.; FREITAS, A. A..
In Brazil, due to economic and social factors, public policies are needed to grant access to quality nutrition in school. This provision should respect the local food culture; however, in the North, the region with the highest production of inland fisheries, fish consumption among students is still very low. The aim of the present study is to characterize Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) MSM, suggest planned school dishes based on this MSM and assesses their acceptability among students at the elementary and high school levels in northern Brazil. The study was carried out over one month and was a quantitative (hedonic scale and leftover/intake index) and qualitative research about preference. The participants were 120 elementary- and high-school students...

Jaramillo, Miguel; Parodi, Sandro.

The appropriate use of human albumin in a Brazilian University Hospital: therapeutic indication and dosage regimen BJPS
Ishida,Tatiane Sayuri; Sakai,Maria Cristina; Melo,Daniela Oliveira de.
The objective of the study was to evaluate the use of human albumin in a Brazilian university hospital, in compliance with the institutional protocol and other clinical guidelines, taking into account the therapeutic indications and the dosage regimens. Data was obtained from the pharmacy dispensing records of human albumin, the requests for use it and, when available, the patient’s records between January and October 2017. After evaluation the therapeutic indications and the dosage regimens were classified as “appropriate” and “inappropriate”. The analysis of 98 requests showed that, when compared to the institutional protocol, 54 (55.1%) requests had an inappropriate therapeutic indication. However, when a comparison was made between 25 medical records...

Why are the rates of cesarean section in Brazil higher in more developed cities than in less developed ones? BJMBR
Ribeiro,V.S.; Figueiredo,F.P.; Silva,A.A.M.; Bettiol,H.; Batista,R.F.L.; Coimbra,L.C.; Lamy,Z.C.; Barbieri,M.A..
The objective of the present study was to investigate factors associated with cesarean sections in two cities located in different regions of Brazil and to determine factors that explain the higher cesarean section rate in the more developed city, Ribeirão Preto, compared to the less developed one, São Luís. Data from two cohort studies comprising 2846 women in Ribeirão Preto in 1994, and 2443 women in São Luís in 1997/1998 were used. Adjusted and non-adjusted risk estimates were calculated using a Poisson regression model. The cesarean section rate was 33.7% in São Luís and 50.8% in Ribeirão Preto. Adjusted analysis in a joint sequential model revealed a 51% higher risk of cesarean section in Ribeirão Preto compared to São Luís (prevalence rate ratio...
