ABSTRACT In this study, to increase the preservation of phenolic bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity in blueberry pulp, heat treatment associated with addition of xanthan gum was used. A commercial mixture of blueberries (Powerblue, Climax and Bluegen cultivars) was added with 0.08% (w/w) citric acid and subjected to heat treatment by direct heating until 90 °C in conventional open pan (OP) and by direct application of steam (AS); both with and without the addition of xanthan pruni (OPX and ASX), followed by pulping. Dados de saldo de radiacao, fluxo de calor no solo, gradientes de temperatura e pressao do vapor, coletados no Campo Experimental da Embrapa Semi-Arido, em Petrolina, PE, foram utilizados na avaliacao dos comportamentos diurno e sazonal dos componentes do , balanco de energia, durante as fases fenologicas da cultura da banana, irrigada por .microaspersao, no primeiro ano de producao. Em media, o saldo de radiacao representou 63% da radiacao solar global. A razao de Bowen foi utilizada na medicao dos fluxos de calor latente e de calor sens¡vel. Plant breeding through the development of seeds resistant to water stress or high temperature is an important adaptive strategy to cope climate change. In this way, by providing an analysis of adaptation to climate change using genetic breeding on Brazilian farms, this work aims to investigate how climate change will affect the adoption of genetic breeding and profitability of farmers. Temperature and rainfall projections for 2010-2099 time periods were used, considering different climate scenarios (A1B and A2), according to the 4th Assessment Report of IPCC (2007). It is expected that future climate changes and global warming conditions will limit the coffee crop yields. However, the real effects of enhanced air [CO2] and temperature on this plant remain completely unknown. Therefore, this work studied the impact of such environmental changes on the photosynthetic machinery of Coffea arabica L. cv. Icatu. Plants were grown for 1 year under controlled conditions (temperature, RH, irradiance, photoperiod), at 380 or 700 ?L CO2 L-1 air, without nutrient, water and root space limitations, and then subjected to temperature increase (0.5ºC/day) to 42/34ºC. Artificial dryers promote high-quality dried food products in spite of their considerable energy consumption. This paper presents a review of energy consumption of agricultural dryers in order to ensure optimal dryer design and cost effective dryer operation which yield better quality dried products. From the review, dryer design, type, crop characteristics, and ambient environmental conditions are seen as major factors affecting dryer energy consumption. Energy consumption of different dryers with different products was reported using different empirical expressions and graphical approaches. The present study was conducted at the Department of Rural Engineering and the Department of Animal Morphology and Physiology of FCAV/Unesp, Jaboticabal, SP, Brazil. The objective was to verify the influence of roof slope, exposure and roofing material on the internal temperature of reduced models of animal production facilities. For the development of the research, 48 reduced and dissemble models with dimensions 1.00 × 1.00 × 0.50 m were used. The roof was shed-type, and the models faced to the North or South directions, with 24 models for each side of exposure. Ceramic, galvanized-steel and fibro tiles were used to build the roofs. In this regard, future prospects are to measure milk hormones on-farm and progesterone levels in milk are not enough to precise ovulation unless connected to other data. Hypertension is characterized by a pro-inflammatory status, including redox imbalance and increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may be exacerbated after heat exposure. However, the effects of heat exposure, specifically in individuals with inflammatory chronic diseases such as hypertension, are complex and not well understood. O objetivo do trabalho é estudar um sistema de monitoramento automático da taxa de transpiração e caracterização de estresse hídrico de duas linhagens de milho (Zea mays L.) a partir de medições de fluxo de seiva com sondas de balanços de energia, instaladas nos caules das plantas. As sondas são compostas de resistência elétrica de aquecimento (jaqueta térmica), que fornece uma taxa constante de calor ao segmento do caule, termopares de cobre-constantan, que dectaram as perdas de calor da superficie da jaqueta térmica para o ar ao redor do caule e as diferenças de temperatura no segmento do caule monitorado. SIDDIES Corridor: A Major East-West Pathway of Long-Lived Surface and Subsurface Eddies Crossing the Subtropical South Indian Ocean ArchiMer

South Indian Ocean eddies (SIDDIES), originating from a high evaporation region in the eastern Indian Ocean, are investigated by tracking individual eddies from satellite data and co‐located Argo floats. A subsurface‐eddy identification method, based on its steric dynamic height anomaly, is devised to assign Argo profiles to surface eddies (surfSIDDIES) or subsurface eddies (subSIDDIES). These westward‐propagating, long‐lived features (>3 months) prevail over a preferential latitudinal band, forming a permanent structure linking the eastern to the western Indian Ocean, that we call the 'SIDDIES Corridor'.
