Abundance and prevalence of Aphidius avenae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) in Chile Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Peñalver-Cruz,Ainara; Ortiz-Martínez,Sebastián; Villegas,Cinthya; Tomanovic,Zeljko; Zepeda-Paulo,Francisca; Zikic,Vladimir; Lavandero,Blas.
Abstract During the samplings described here, Aphidius avenae (=picipes) (Haliday, 1834) was collected. This species has been reported in Chile but has never been studied in terms of its relative abundance and prevalence in central and southern Chile by using classical or molecular methods. The composition of the parasitoid assemblages on several cereal aphid hosts was examined for three seasons in agricultural landscapes. In this note, we describe the prevalence of this parasitoid species in cereal aphids and other aphid hosts and discuss the abundance of this parasitoid compared to other aphid parasitoids and the probable origins of this important aphid parasitoid species in Chile. The results indicate that A. avenae has a low prevalence compared to...

Biologie du copepode Lernaeenicus sprattae Sowerby, 1806) et ses actions pathogenes sur les populations de sardines des cotes du Languedoc-Roussillon. ArchiMer
El Gharbi, Salwa; Rousset, Viviane; Raibaut, André.
Lernaeenicus sprattae is a blood-feeding copepod parasite of the pilchard, Sardian pilchardus . The larval stages of L. sprattae attach to the skin or the fins of the larval fish when the fish enter the lagoons. The mature, and in some cases ovigerous females of L.sprattae seek out the base of the fins or directly implant in the eye of juvenile or adult pilchards. The copepod has a particularly serious effect at the site of infection: its feeding has a severe effect on the fish. The pilchard returns to its breeding grounds in the open sea at the end of summer; this migration allows the copepod to complete its reproductive cycle and a new cycle of infestation is able to begin.

Arzua,Márcia; Onofrio,Valeria C.; Barros-Battesti,Darci M..
The tick collection of the Museu de Historia Natural Capão da Imbuia was first sorted in the end of the 80's, and a list of specimens was published in 1992. During the last ten years, the collection has grown substantially and became the depository collection for type-specimens. The collection is the most regional representative depository of ticks from the State of Paraná, and it is one of the four largest Brazilian collections in number of specimens. All material was revised, and the data were computerized and catalogued in cards. To date, the collection includes 504 vials, with 2,073 specimens, belonging to 25 species and six genera of the families Argasidae and Ixodidae. The ticks were collected in regional and state parks and in green areas from 60...

Ecologie des vibrions pathogenes ArchiMer
Dodin, A; Dosso, M; Guillou, M.
There exists no biochemical test allowing to define the pathogenicity of a bacterium, still less for a Vibrionaceae. Two essential characters are to be retained to hold responsible an isolated germ, for an illness: 1) the binding factor, the identification is difficult but a double diffusion of agar should simplify the method; 2) the search for the choleric toxin or a common part of the choleric toxin (toxin LT or ST of E. coli ). Here again, simplified techniques may be used. The acquirement of a plasmid responsible for the binding factor or for the toxin production of the non-pathogenic Vibrionaceae in the origin of certain epidemic diseases in France and in the world. Frequently, epidemics due to common germs (Aeromonas hydrophila of Africa) lead to...

Host suitability of weeds and forage species to root-knot nematode meloidogyne graminicola as a funcion of irrigation management Planta Daninha
Negretti,R.R.D.; Manica-Berto,R.; Agostinetto,D.; Thürmer,L.; Gomes,C.B..
The irrigated rice production can be limited by various phytopathogenic agents, including root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). Thus, the aim of this research was to check the host suitability of plant species most often found off-season and during rice cultivation, to root-knot nematode Meloidogyne graminicola, under two irrigation managements. Two experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design. In the first experiment seven plant species that occur in an area of rice cultivation, in fallow, off-season were evaluated. For the second experiment nine weed species infesting the irrigated rice culture were tested in rainfed and flooding conditions. The sixteen species, kept individually in pots with sterilized substrate, were inoculated with...

L'interaction hôte-parasite en aquaculture : cas du charax, diplodus puntazzo (pisces, sparidae) infesté par myxidium leei (myxozoa) OceanDocs
Tarer, V.; Marques, A.; Raymond, J. Ch..

Oviposition preference hierarchy in Ceratitis capitata (Diptera, Tephritidae): influence of female age and experience Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Joachim-Bravo,Iara S.; Fernandes,Odair A.; Bortoli,Sérgio A.; Zucoloto,Fernando S..
The influence of two factors, age and previous experience, on the oviposition hierarchy preference of Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) females was studied. Two populations were analyzed: one reared in laboratory during 17 years and the other captured in nature. In the first experiment the oviposition preference for four fruits, papaya, orange, banana and apple was tested at the beginning of oviposition period and 20 days past. The results showed that the wild females as much the laboratory ones had an oviposition preference hierarchy at the beginning of peak period of oviposition. However this hierarchic preference disappeared in a later phase of life. In the second experiment the females were previously exposed to fruits of different hierarchic...
