The Mejean-Perols Lagoon is situated on the French Mediterranean coast. It is a small (747 ha) and shallow (70 cm) lagoon. Some treated effluent from Montpellier flows into this hypereutrophic lagoon. The cartography of C, N and P concentrations in the sediment was studied based on 35 bottom samples. The nitrogen and organic carbon concentrations were more or less homogeneous, the highest concentrations being found in the middle of the lagoon. The phosphate was principally bound onto the sediment in the west zone. The observed distribution was independent of grain size, the distribution of which was rather homogeneous. Développé par le laboratoire DEL/AO à Brest et appliqué à la rade de Toulon, le modèle MARS-3D a été installé au laboratoire de Toulon. L'objectif est de mettre en route son application à Toulon et de contribuer à l'analyse en cours des résultats du modèle, en les· comparant aux mesures historiques. Dans ce rapport sont présentés les travaux faits pour réaliser ce double objectif: l'apprentissage du modèle dans sa conception et son utilisation, l'analyse des résultats et la comparaison avec des mesures ainsi qu'une simulation de traceurs. This work aims to characterise by the means of expérimental and numerical modeling, the behavior of marine current turbine and the characteristics of the wake generated under realistic inflow conditions. For that purpose, we used a tri-bladed horizontal axis turbine of 0.7 m of diameter. Etude expérimentale pour l'optimisation des performances d'une plage d'amortissement parabolique ArchiMer

An optimisation study was run before rebuilding the damping beach of the Ifremer Ocean Engineering Basin. Trials were conducted at a ¼ geometrical scale at Ecole Centrale de Marseille in a wave tank reproducing the original performance of the beach. A series of modifications was studied : incidence, device between the beach and the adjacent wall, porosity. Porosity was shown as the most efficient tool to enhance the beach absorption and full scale measurements revealed that the resulting damping coefficient was less than 10 % for all usual periods and amplitudes.

Evolution de l'environnement hydroclimatique du bassin de Marennes-Oléron dans le contexte du changement global ArchiMer

Dans le contexte du changement global dont la cause anthropique est maintenant reconnue, cette étude dresse un bilan de l’évolution hydro-climatique des Pertuis Charentais (Bassin de Marennes-Oléron) depuis les quarante dernières années. Elle présente une comparaison de la situation hydro-climatique avant et après la « rupture thermique » des années 80-90, reconnue à l’échelle de l’hémisphère Nord et mise également en évidence dans les Pertuis entre 1983-1997. Les deux périodes comparées sont (1977-1991) d’une part et (2000-2015) d’autre part. We focus here our attention on the case of a simple devce, a 2D piston, in order to exploit the well-known expressions of the potential as far as possible in the design of new absorption laws. We consider a semi-infinite two dimensional wave tank closed by a mobile vertical plane. An unsteady wave train generated at infinity impiges on this plate. Les performances du modèle communautaire CROCO sont évaluées grâce à un jeu de données in-situ complet (courant, hauteur d’eau, température, salinité) et comparées à celles du modèle MARS-3D. Il apparaît que les modèles ont un comportement hydro-dynamique proche avec des divergences liées au coeur numérique de CROCO (schéma temporel, schéma d’advection). A ce stade, ces divergences n’apparaissent pas discriminantes pour CROCO.

Modelling of circulation and dispersion of radioactive pollutants in the Japan Sea ArchiMer

A large amount of radioactive waste was deposited in the Japan Sea, at a depth of about 3 000 m by the former Soviet Union. Research was carried out to determine to what extent the surface waters could be contaminated by possible leakage from the dumped containers. A three-dimensional, non-linear, baroclinic model was used to determine the circulation and pollutant dispersion. The computations were carried out in the diagnostic mode, taking into account data on winter and summer temperature and salinity distribution.
