Affinement du concept de la protéine idéale pour le porc en croissance Inra

Cet article traite des données récentes sur les relations d’équilibre entre les acides aminés dans l’alimentation du porc en croissance, au travers du concept de la protéine "idéale". Après avoir précisé les limites de ce concept, sur le plan de la constance des rapports entre les teneurs en acides aminés indispensables et celle en lysine, prise comme référence, sont considérés les ratios entre les acides aminés limitants secondaires (tryptophane, thréonine, méthionine et acides aminés soufrés) et la lysine, compte tenu des spécificités de leur rôle fonctionnel au plan métabolique et physiologique. Crystal structure and standardized geometric analysis of InlJ, a listerial virulence factor and leucine-rich repeat protein with a novel cysteine ladder Inra

We report on the crystal structure of the internalin domain of InlJ, a virulence-associated surface protein of Listeria monocytogenes, at 2.7-Å resolution. InlJ is a member of the internalin family of listerial cell surface proteins characterized by a common N-terminal domain. InlJ bears 15 leucine-rich repeats (LRRs), the same number as in InlA, the prototypical internalin family member. The LRRs of InlJ differ from those of other internalins by having 21, rather than 22, residues and by replacing 1 LRR defining hydrophobic residue with a conserved cysteine. Enterococcus faecalis is an important nosocomial pathogen associated with high morbidity and mortality for patients who are immunocompromised or who have severe underlying diseases. The E. faecalis genome encodes numerous surface-exposed proteins that may be involved in virulence. This work describes the characterization of the first internalin-like protein in E. faecalis, ElrA, belonging to the recently identified WxL family of surface proteins. ElrA contains an N-terminal signal peptide for export, a leucine-rich repeat domain that may interact with host cells, and a C-terminal WxL domain that interacts with the peptidoglycan. Influence du pH, d'acides aminés et de diverses substances organiques sur la fongitoxicité du pyriméthanil, du glufosinate, du captafol, du cymoxanil et du fenpiclonil vis-à-vis de certaines souches de Botrytis cinerea Inra

L’effet du pyriméthanil, du fenpiclonil, du captafol, du glufosinate et du cymoxanil sur l’élongation des filaments germinatifs des spores de Botrytis cinerea est étudié dans diverses conditions culturales du champignon. Si le fenpiclonil présente un niveau d’activité stable entre pH 3,6 et 7,3, en revanche les autres pesticides voient leur toxicité chuter dans des milieux acides (ex pyriméthanil) ou neutres à faiblement basiques (ex captafol, cymoxanil, glufosinate). L’adjonction d’extrait de levure, de peptone ou d’hydrolysat de caséine réduit notablement l’activité du pyriméthanil, du captafol, du glufosinate et du cymoxanil mais pas celle du fenpiclonil. Internalins: a complex family of leucine-rich repeat-containing proteins in Listeria monocytogenes Inra

The Listeria monocytogenes genome includes a large family of proteins harbouring leucine-rich repeats known as internalins (Inl). The generation of novel mutants and comparative analysis of Inl variability among Listeria and other bacterial genomes suggest that beyond the extensively-studied invasins, InlA and InlB, additional internalins also play important functions in the infectious process.

Listeria monocytogenes internalins bind to the human intestinal mucin MUC2 Inra

Listeria monocytogenes cross the intestinal barrier causing systemic infections with high mortality rates. Intestinal infection triggers release of intestinal mucus. We show that three L. monocytogenes internalins, InlB, InlC and InlJ all bound to MUC2 (the major component of intestinal mucus), but not to the cell surface mucin MUC1. Binding was strongest to InlB>InlC>InlJ (P < 0.001). Listerial internalins are characterized by their internalin domain, composed by leucine rich repeats (LRR) followed by an immunogloblin-like region. We report here that the internalin domain of the InlJ protein also bound MUC2, suggesting that an internalin domain is sufficient to bind to MUC2.

The present study was carried out to assess the effects of protease inhibitor (PI) therapy on basal whole body protein metabolism and its response to acute amino acid-glucose infusion in 14 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. Patients treated with PIs (PI+, 7 patients) or without PIs (PI-, 7 patients) were studied after an overnight fast during a 180-min basal period followed by a 140-min period of amino acid-glucose infusion. Protein metabolism was investigated by a primed constant infusion of l-[1-(13)C]leucine.
