Contribution à l'étude de la microflore hétérotrophe de termites supérieurs à régimes alimentaires différenciés IRD

Un dénombrement de la microflore hétérotrophe du tractus digestif d'un termite supérieur xylophage, #Nasutitermes arborum$, a montré que ce termite possède une flore de 10 puissance 9 bactéries/tube digestif; cette microflore est principalement composée de bactéries fermentatives (68 %). La population anaérobie stricte ne constitue que 10 % de la microflore totale et les bactéries méthanogènes 1 %. La mesure de l'émission comparée de méthane, chez 3 espèces, a montré une différence significative selon les régimes alimentaires; ce sont les termites humivores qui se révèlent les plus méthanogènes. Sulfate reducing bacteria of the genus DESULFOVIBRIO and homoacetogenic bacteria of the genus SPOROMUSA were sensitive to changes of hydrogen concentrations during the growth on an organic substrate. Increase of hydrogen concentrations competitively inhibited the organic substrate degradation and decrease of hydrogen concentration inhibited the respiration and the reduction of the external electron acceptor. Such hydrogen sensitive strains which seem to intermediarily produce and consume hydrogen ("hydrogen-cycling") were cultivated in the presence of a second hydrogen oxidizer. Une importante biomasse algale s'échoue, chaque année, de novembre à juin, en certains endroits de la côte du Sénégal. Cette biomasse, qui n'est pas utilisée, contribue à la pollution des plages. C'est pour cela que les auteurs ont tenté, en utilisant des procédés de biotechnologie de valoriser cette biomasse par la filière biogaz-compost , la transformant en deux sous-produits : un biogaz (combustible) et un compost à usage agronomique. Fungal pretreatment by Phanerochaete chrysosporium to reduce the inhibition of methanogenesis by dehydroabietic acid Inra

The white-rot basidiomycete Phanerochaete chrysosporium BKM-F-1767 was tested for its capacity to degrade dehydroabietic acid (DHA). In anaerobic treatment, this molecule is the most recalcitrant member of the resin acid group, which is known to cause operational problems to anaerobic reactors treating pulp and paper industry wastewaters. In this study the effect of DHA on different parameters, such as growth, ligninolytic enzyme activity, extracellular protein production as well as both glycerol and ammonium consumption by the fungus, was determined. Although the above parameters were affected by the addition of DHA, the results show that the fungus could still produce significant titres of ligninolytic enzymes. Methane production from acetamide in an upflow anaerobic sludge-blanket reactor based on a synergistic association between an aerobic rod and methonogens IRD

Acetamide degradation was investigated in a bench-scale upflow anaerobic sludge-blanket (UASB) reactor, successively fed with acetamide, acetate and acetamide, over a period of 343 days, at different hydraulic retention times. The reactor was seeded with the sludge previously described, in which methanogenesis from acetamide was performed through a synergistic relationship between an acetamide-degrading, aerobic rod and methanogens. When the reactor was fed acetamide, the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency was 86% at volumetric loads less than 1.18 kg COD/m3/day. At higher volumetric loads, the efficiency decreased markedly, e.g. 50.9% at a volumetric organic load of 3.39 kg COD/m3/day with an accumulation of both acetamide and acetate. The...
