Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) and humic acids (HA) have been used as biostimulants in field conditions. The complete genomic and proteomic transcription of Herbaspirillum seropedicae and Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus is available but interpreting and utilizing this information in the field to increase crop performance is challenging. The identification and characterization of metabolites that are induced by genomic changes may be used to improve plant responses to inoculation. Marine microalgae and cyanobacteria have largely been studied for their biotechnological potential and proved their ability to produce a wide array of bioactive molecules. We investigated the antifouling potential of unexplored benthic tropical microalgae using anti-adhesion and toxicity bioassays against two major micro- and ma crobiofoulers, namely bacteria and barnacles. Fifty strains belonging to six phyla [Cyanobacteria, Miozoa (Dinoflagellata), Bacillariophyta, Cryptophyta, Rhodophyta and Haptophyta] were isolated from southwestern Islands of the Indian Ocean. First insight on interactions between bacteria and the marine diatom Haslea ostrearia : Algal growth and metabolomic fingerprinting ArchiMer

A first insight on the interactions between bacteria isolated from monospecific cultures of the marine diatom Haslea ostrearia and this microalgae is described in this work. From 28 bacterial isolates, the maximal growth rate and the maximal cell concentration were on average 58% and 27% higher (max. 67% for isolate B22). Isolates B5, B10 (both Saccharospirillum sp.) and B22 (Rhodobacter sp.) were the most efficient. The geographical origin of H. ostrearia from which bacteria were isolated had no impact on the algal growth performances, and a given bacterial isolate led to the same algal growth irrespective of the geographical origin of H. ostrearia. Mushrooms are of increasing importance in modern nutrition and medicine. Trás-os-Montes region (north-eastern Portugal) is known for the variety of its soils and diversity of climate conditions. This variability assumes an important role in mushroom production, explaining why this region is recognized as one of the richest ones in wild edible species. Photosynthetic species of the genus Dinophysis are obligate mixotrophs with temporary plastids (kleptoplastids) that are acquired from the ciliate Mesodinium rubrum, which feeds on cryptophytes of the Teleaulax-Plagioselmis-Geminigera clade. A metabolomic study of the three-species food chain Dinophysis-Mesodinium-Teleaulax was carried out using mass spectrometric analysis of extracts of batch-cultured cells of each level of that food chain.
