A Study on the RAPD and SCAR Molecular Markers of Piper Species JARTS

In order to compare the genetic relationships among Kava, Pepper and it’s wild relatives and to distinguish Kava from Pepper and it’s wild relatives, we conducted research on Kava by using RAPD and SCAR molecular markers. 20 random primers selected from 80 random primers were used for RAPD amplification to identify the genetic relationships among Kava, Pepper and it’s wild relatives. Total 170 bands were amplified by 20 random primers, in which 20 bands were polymorphic (12%). Cluster analysis grouped the 28 accessions into six groups at similarity coefficient of 0.36, where 6 materials of Kava formed a group, indicating that Kava was distantly relation to Pepper and its wild relatives. The pepper tree (Schinus terebinthifolius) is a tree native to Atlantic whose planting is seen as an alternative to agricultural diversification. Besides being suitable for reforestation, its fruit, known as pink pepper, pepper or brazilia-poivre rose, is widely used in European cuisine. This paper aimed to design an agribusiness for processing the fruits of 100 trees planted in planting planned or consortium, as well as restore degraded areas, this needs a small area for planting. Objetivando resistência genética ao ácaro branco (Polyphagotarsonemus latus), foram avaliadas 15 introduções de Capsicum, originárias do Banco de Germoplasma de Hortaliças da UFV, um híbrido e quatro cultivares de pimentão. O estudo foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, sob condições de disseminação natural do ácaro, adotando-se delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com seis repetições por genótipo. As avaliações foram procedidas através da contagem do número de ácaros adultos presentes em amostras de folhas e de uma escala de notas referente à severidade dos sintomas. The diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in six Capsicum annuum or Lycopersicum escuíentum L. horticultural production systems of small farmers, and of two wheat agrosystems was comparatively investigated in Southern Chile (La Araucania). Soils in this region are mostly originated by volcanic ashes which are characterized by high organic matter content and high P-fixing capacity. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal symbioses are playing a key role for P uptake by horticultural crops grown there. Effect of drying temperatures and pre-treatments on drying characteristics, energy consumption, and quality of bell pepper CIGR Journal

Abstract: The effect of air temperature (50°C, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C and 90°C) and pre-treatments (steam, water palm oil-water, groundnut oil-water blanching) on the drying characteristics and quality of bell pepper was investigated.  The results were fitted to six thin-layer drying models and Parabolic model gave the best fit.  The pretreated samples dried faster than untreated samples and had lower values of total energy needed and specific energy requirement.  The ascorbic acid content, color and rehydration index varied from 129.1 to 316.8 mg/100 g dry matter, 0.1 to 0.9, 22 to 33 mL and pretreated dried pepper generally had higher values than untreated samples.   Keywords: modeling, energy consumption, Rehydration index, color, pepper

Morphological and chemical characterization of fruits of Capsicum spp. accessions Horticultura Brasileira

This study aimed to evaluate 69 Capsicum accessions from the Germplasm Bank of Universidade Federal de Roraima, for some fruit quality traits. The experiment was performed in a completely random design, with 69 treatments and 3 replications. The 69 accessions were evaluated for fourteen quantitative and two qualitative traits of ripe fruits. Quantitative fruits data were subjected to an analysis of variance, and the means were grouped by Scott-Knott test (p<0.01). The aim of this work was to evaluate the predation and behavior activities of the predatory bug Nesidiocoris tenuis Reuter and the lady beetle Cycloneda sanguinea limbifer (Casey) on the aphid. Myzus persicae Zulzer, as well as their effect on this prey dispersal. The experiments were carried out in an acclimatized room at 23.7±1, 8ºC, RH 62,6±5% and 12 h photofase. The number of aphids on the infested and non-infested plants was recorded after 24 hours. Behavioral activities such as moving, searching, resting, encountering aphids, feeding, encountering aphid exuviae, and cleaning, and the time spent in each one were recorded. The study evaluated the effects of dietary inclusion of Piper cubeba ethanolic extract (PE) as a replacement for anantibiotic growth promoter (AGP) on the performance and biochemical serum profile of 1- to 21-d-old broilers (Cobb®). The small-scale pepper producers in the El Roble settlement Costa Rica face a monopsonistic market. Only one processing firm is buying the fresh pepper bunches. The processor has all bargaining power to decide on the price paid to the farmers and the quality selection criteria. The rejection rates are high, which is why farmers decided to market their pepper collectively. They started organizing the selection and transport of pepper and entered into group contracts with the firm. The effects of ultraviolet B (UV-B) irradiation on color quality and decay rate of Capia pepper during postharvest storage Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.

Abstract The current study demonstrates that the ultraviolet-B (UV-B) irradiation not only helps in improvement of the red color of the peppers but also reduces their rate of decay. The Capia peppers were harvested at their full red ripe stage and subjected to the UV-B treatment at doses 4.46 kJ m–2 (UV-B 15) and 8.93 kJ m–2 (UV-B 30). Post irradiation, the peppers were packaged and stored at 5 ± 1 °C temperature with 90-95% RH for 49 days. The UV-B treated group showed lower L* values, but higher a* and h° values as compared to the control group. Therefore, it was found that both the doses of UV-B radiations could enhance the quality of red color of the peppers. Fruits of Capsicum species (peppers) accumulate high amounts of ascorbic acid or vitamin C. C. chinense occurs in the Midwest and Northeast regions and the Amazon Basin (where its greatest genetic diversity is found). The objective of the present work was to quantify the vitamin C content in peppers of 22 accessions of C. chinense 'Habanero' from the Breeding Program of Embrapa Vegetable Crops. Vitamin C was extracted from mature fruits with TCEP-HCl (tris 2-carboxyethyl-phosphine hydrocloride) and its content determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The antagonistic Streptomyces-PR15 is a broad spectrum against various plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria of economic crops. To develop the ELISA technique for detection the Streptomyces-PR15 in bioproducts and plant surrounding environment, the production of polyclonal antiserum against Streptomyces-PR15 was carried out. การใช้เซลล์แขวนลอยและสารสกัดหยาบของแบคทีเรีย Bacillus licheniformis BFP011 ในการควบคุมโรคแอนแทรคโนสบนผลพริก Thai Agricultural

The five concentrations of cell suspension of Bacillus licheniformis BFP011 each applied to reduce the disease symptom caused by Colletotrichum capsici using the detached fruit technique with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The statistical analysis indicated that inoculation of cell suspension prior to inoculation of C. capsici gave more disease severity reduction than inoculation of C. capsici prior to inoculation of cell suspension. The optimal concentration that reduced disease severity; without adverse effect was at 1x104-1x105 cfu/ml prior to inoculation of C. capsici for 24 hours as disease severity was reduced by 35.8% and 34.8%, respectively. The cell suspension at the concentrations between 1x106 to 1x108 cfu/ml induced fruit rot to 10-50%....

Capability of 11 isolates of Bacillus spp. previously reported as antagonistic against some plant pathogens was tested. This is to inhibit the growth of four isolates of Colletotrichum capsici isolated from stalk, leaf, fruit and 158 ci/KU, by employing Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 11 treatments with 4 replications. The results showed that B. licheniformis BFP011 exhibited the most promising inhibition. Similarly, the evaporated crude extract produced by B. licheniformis BFP011 was able to inhibit greatly growth of C. capsici. 蔬菜作物病害與我的研究生涯 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]長達 35 年在亞蔬-世界蔬菜中心之蔬菜作物病害研究,專注於綠豆、大豆、番茄及番椒等作物的主要真菌性病原菌族群結構的探討,抗病檢定技術之建立及抗病育種、研發抗病品系。首次發現胡蘿蔔葉片抽出液混合燕麥抽出液瓊脂培養基促進綠豆葉斑病菌(Cercospora canescens)產孢量最多。從近 4 千個綠豆種原中篩選到 10 個抗葉斑病及 18 個高度抗白粉病之種原,這些抗原經雜交後選育了無數抗病品系,推廣至全亞洲而造成「綠豆革命」。大豆流行病學之研究,了解氣象因子、溫度、露水期、灌溉方式及下雨對銹病病勢進展之影響。進而探討耐銹病之選育技術而選育 16 個高度耐銹病之品系。派駐沙烏地阿拉伯王國服務兩年期間,調查鑑定蔬菜病害並拍照為證,進而與虫害照片合印成「沙烏地阿拉伯王國作物病虫害及其防治」專刊。利用核糖体基因間間隔區限制片段長度多形性(ITS-RFLP haplotype)技術配合病原菌表現型特性鑑定台灣的番椒炭疽病由 Colletotrichum acutatum, C. boninense, C. capsici 及 C. gloeosporioides所引起。 其中 C. acutatum 最為優勢,近年已發現其出現病原性較強的病原型。 高度抗病之抗原 PBC932, 80 及 81 被鑑定後,選育的抗病品系,提供全世界使用。2008 年鑑定台灣番椒疫病菌 A2 配對型之出現,病原性高於原有的 A1 配對型。已鑑定有三個病原型,但以病原型 3...
