Chemical Control of Morning Glory Species in Sugarcane Harvested in the Dry and Semi-Wet Seasons1 Planta Daninha
CORREIA,N.M..
ABSTRACT The control of morning glory (Ipomoea spp. and Merremia aegyptia) was evaluated in five commercial sugarcane-production fields receiving applications of the herbicides sulfentrazone (0.9 kg ha-1), amicarbazone (1.4 kg ha-1), imazapic (0.147 kg ha-1), and hexazinone + tebuthiuron (0.325 + 0.75 kg ha-1) applied pre-emergence in either the dry season (July and August) or in the semi-wet season (early October); mesotrione alone (0.192 kg ha-1) or in combination (0.12 kg ha-1) with atrazine (1.5 kg ha-1) or diuron + hexazinone (0.491 + 0.139 kg ha-1) applied post-emergence in the wet season (November), and the phytointoxication of the chemical treatments for sugarcane. Five species of morning glory (Ipomoea hederifolia, Ipomoea nil, Ipomoea quamoclit,...

State-Contingent Demand for Herbicide-Tolerance Seed Trait AgEcon
Hennessy, David A.; Saak, Alexander E..
Suppose a farmer had to apply a herbicide pre-emergence or not at all. The advent of a herbicide-tolerance trait innovation then provides the option to wait for more information before making a state-contingent post-emergence application. This option to wait can increase or decrease average herbicide use. For heterogeneous acre types, trait royalties increase with the level of uncertainty about the extent of weed damage. Royalties are largest when acre infestation susceptibility types are bunched around the type indifferent to applying the herbicide in the absence of the trait. The trait complements (substitutes for) information technologies that facilitate informed post-emergence (pre-emergence) decisions.

Experiment on pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide application for weed control in farmer's field conducted in Ban Yangrak, Khokcharoen district, Lopburi province, during August-November 2008. The experiment laid out in RCB, composed of 10 treatments, with 3 replications. The objective of this experiment was to study on the efficiency of herbicides and their effect on field corn, KSX 4901 variety. The results revealed that weed found in the experiment were purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus), wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla), horse purslane (Portulaca oleracea), tropical spiderwort (Commelina benghalensis), running grass (Brachiaria reptans), and jungle rice (Echinichloa colona). The application of 2,4-D, glufosinate, fluroxypyr and paraquat...

Experiment on post-emergence herbicide, glufosinate in sweet corn production field conducted at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center during November 2008-January 2010. The objective of this experiment was to study on the efficiency of herbicides and their affect on sweet corn hybrid, Insee 2 variety. The experiment laid out in RCBD, composed of 10 treatments, with 3 replications. The results revealed that weed found in the experiment were purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus), wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla), tropical spiderwort (Commelina benghalensis) and Itchgrass (Rottboellia cochinchinensis). The application of glufosinate at the rate of 800-1,400 g/rai, as post-emergence herbicide gave good weed control of 80-86 percent, and better...
