El Avocado sunblotch viroid (ASBVd) ocasiona una enfermedad de importancia cuarentenaria en el cultivo de aguacate donde puede provocar infecciones asintomáticas, por lo que su detección oportuna es importante para evitar su diseminación e implementar medidas de manejo. El ASBVd disminuye el vigor de los árboles y los síntomas se presentan principalmente en hojas, ramas verdes y frutos que impiden su comercialización. Coffee seeds begin to develop shortly after fertilization and can take 6 to 8 months to complete their formation, a period during which all the characteristics of the mature seed are determined, directly influencing physiological quality. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms that act during coffee seed maturation. The objective of the current study was to analyze expression of the β-tubulin (TUB) and endo-β-mannanase (MAN) genes during different phases at the end of development and in different tissues of Coffea arabica seeds. Las raíces almacenadoras de yuca representan una fuente importante de almidón. La ruta metabólica del almidón ha sido reconstruida recientemente en yuca gracias a la liberación de la secuencia completa de su genoma. En este estudio se evaluó la expresión de los genes que codifican para las enzimas pululanasa, isoamilasa, α-amilasa, enzima desproporcionante, ADP-glucosa pirofoforilasa, almidón sintasa unida al gránulo, enzima ramificante del almidón y sintasa soluble del almidón, en las raíces almacenadoras de plantas de cinco y 11 meses de edad, en un grupo de cinco variedades de yuca. Evaluation of Gene Expression in Peripheral Blood Cells as a Potential Biomarker for Enzootic Bovine Leukosis OAK

Expression of six selective genes in peripheral blood cells was evaluated as diagnostic biomarkers for enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL) by using 10 EBL and 15 clinically healthy cattle. The clinically healthy cattle generally showed lower gene expression levels. Although wide variations of gene expression were found in some clinical cases of EBL, 4 and 5 among 10 EBL cattle showed higher expression of interleukin 2 receptor gene (IL2R) and Wilms’ tumor gene (WT1), respectively. Expression of IL2R in peripheral blood cells in EBL cattle was statistically increased; however, the lower sensitivity and higher variation in the gene expressions among clinical cases of EBL would be problems as diagnostic biomarkers.

Abstract Pyrenophora teres f. maculata is the causal agent of barley spot form net blotch (SFNB), a major stubble-borne disease in many barley-growing areas worldwide. In plants, the Nucleotide-Binding Site-Leucine-Rich Repeat (NBS-LRR) gene family functions in immunity against a variety of pathogens and pests. From a pre-established set of NBS-type resistance gene candidates, we have selected three candidate genes, HvNBS10, HvNBS72 and HvNBS85, to analyze their possible involvement in P. teres f. maculata resistance. During maturation in seeds, metabolic processes dependent on gene expression are controlled by hormones, including abscisic acid and gibberellin. These hormones determine dormancy or the capacity for germination in seeds and may have different expression levels in the endosperm and embryo of coffee seeds. The objective of this work was to identify genes that could be used as suitable markers for molecular recognition of phenological stages during coffee (Coffea arabica) fruit development. Four cultivars were evaluated as to their differential expression of genes associated to fruit development and maturation processes. Gene expression was characterized by both semi-quantitative and quantitative RT-PCR, in fruit harvested at seven different developmental stages, during three different seasons. Abstract MYB is a large family of plant transcription factors. Its function has been identified in several plants, while there are few reports in Medicago truncatula. In this study, we used RNA-seq data to analyze and identify R2R3-MYB genes in the genome of Medicago truncatula. Phylogenetic analysis classified 150 MtMYB genes into 21 subfamilies with homologs. Out of the 150 MtMYB genes, 139 were distributed among 8 chromosomes, with tandem duplications (TD) and segment duplications (SD). The shipment and storage conditions of clinical samples pose a major challenge to the detection accuracy of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), and Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) when using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The aim of the present study was to explore the influence of storage time at 4°C on the DNA of these pathogens and its effect on their detection by qRT-PCR. Peanut (Arachis hypogaeaL.) is an important le-gume cultivated mostly in drought-prone areas where its pro-ductivity can be limited by water scarcity. El chile CM334 es resistente al oomiceto Phytophthora capsici (Pc) y a los nematodos Meloidogyne incognita, M. arenaria y M. javanica, pero susceptible a M. enterolobii (Me) y Nacobbus aberrans (Na). La resistencia de Capsicum annuum a Pc se asocia con la acumulación de la fitoalexina sesquiterpenica capsidiol y con la sobre-expresión de varios genes de defensa.
