Protein profile of rice (Oryza sativa) seeds Genet. Mol. Biol.

Seeds are the most important plant storage organ and play a central role in the life cycle of plants. Since little is known about the protein composition of rice (Oryza sativa) seeds, in this work we used proteomic methods to obtain a reference map of rice seed proteins and identify important molecules. Overall, 480 reproducible protein spots were detected by two-dimensional electrophoresis on pH 4-7 gels and 302 proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF MS and database searches. Together, these proteins represented 252 gene products and were classified into 12 functional categories, most of which were involved in metabolic pathways. การปฏิบัติของชาวนาในการปลูกข้าวตามมาตรฐานการปฏิบัติทางการเกษตรที่ดี (GAP) ปี 2550/2551 Thai Agricultural

This article concerned a summary report of social science research. The purpose of this research was to know the farmers' socio-economic situation, rice cultivation, rice cultivation practices, GAP standard practice in rice cultivation of the farmars and its factors related. The research was conduted by interviewing 3,575 farmers in 51 provinces during October 2007 to September 2008. It revealed the current situation of Thai farmers, rice cultivation practices, technologies used for rice production i.e. rice seed, soil fertility improvement, rice pest control and emphasizing on GAP standard practice by farmers. Many suggestion of the researchers were also given.

Using hermetic storage method for preserving of rice seed, Phitsanulok 2 variety, in five storage packaging types; plastic bag, LDPE, Nylon, PET12 and Super bag. The experiment aimed to investigate the effect of hermetic storage method with several packaging types on rice seed quality. The split plot in RCB design was used, the main plot were 8% and 10% seed moisture contents while the sub plot were month of storage, for 24 months. Rice seed was contained in five storage packaging types with 5 and 20 kilogram during July 2012-July 2014 at Chiang Rai Rice Research Center warehouse. Survey and evaluation on rice seed quality in Mae Hong Son Province were conducted during 2009-2010. The survey aimed to investigate farmer’s practices on rice seed production and uses, seed demand and problems as well as to monitor farmers after using good seed. Three groups of people were interviewed consisted of seed producers and sellers, farmers who used their own seed and farmers who used good seed. The result showed that most of the seed samples were unqualified as compared to the Rice Department seed standard. The major problems found were seed impurity and mixed of foreign materials. Rice seed accelerated aging for longevity evaluation in humid tropic was conducted in order to study the temperature and optimum duration for evaluation of seed longivity at Krabi Rice Research Center during 2012-2013. Rice seeds from rice planted in both wet and dry seasons were used. By storing the rice seeds in plastic bags at room temperature and every month rice seeds were monitored and quality testing, another part seeds were aged in nearly 100 percent relative humidity at 40, 42, 44 and 46 0C for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Seed drying to suitable moisture content during harvesting immediately and storage is a key factor to maintain a long-shelf life. The purpose of this research was to use the zeolite drying beads to dry rice seeds var. Phitsanulok 2 (PSL2) and Ayutthaya 1 (AYT1) to target moisture content at 6 % and 12 %. Three experiments were carried out at Prachinburi Rice Research Center during April 2012- January 2013. Crude protein extracts from Thai rice seeds were screened for α-amylase inhibitory activity. At least 5 rice seed extracts exhibited a potent α-amylase inhibitory activity with specific activity above 50% inhibition per μg protein. Those α-amylase inhibitory activities have no positive correlation with α-amylase activity in each rice sample. Denatured SDS-PAGE revealed major proteins bands with molecular mass around <20, 28 and 40 kDa. Anion-exchange column chromatographic profile of Q-Sepharose XL at buffer system of 8.5 showed the bound proteins contained α-amylase inhibitory activity. Study on effect of environment on four rice planting durations (January, April, July and October) and four rice varieties (PTT1, PSL2, RD31 and RD41) was conducted at Ratchaburi Rice Research Center in 2011. The experimental design was split plot in RCB with three replications. Varietal characteristics, yield, yield component and meteorological data were recorded. PTT1 variety showed the longest maturity (128 days). Rice planting in April showed higher yield (808 kg/rai) than that planting in other durations. In addition, planting in April also showed the highest panicle length, number of filled seeds/panicle and 1,000 seed weight.
