| Ce rapport fait la synthèse des travaux réalisés en 2008 et en 2009 au cours du programme Selecmer. Celui-ci, réalisé à l'initiative des professionnels de la pêche en partenariat avec l'Ifremer, avait pour objectif de travailler à améliorer la sélectivité du chalut de fond qu'ils utilisent afin de diminuer les rejets des individus hors-tailles1, en particulier pour le merlan, tout en limitant les pertes commerciales immédiates. Une première phase a consisté à tester l'efficacité de fenêtres à mailles carrées. La deuxième phase a eu pour objectif de développer une grille sélective. | The landing obligation implemented under the Common Fisheries Policy promoted the development of fishing gear selective devices. The REDRESSE project conducted in the Bay of Biscay was the opportunity for trawl fleets targeting cephalopods, Nephrops and demersal fish to continue to test various selective configurations to reduce their discards levels. The sea trials were carried out onboard of commercial fishing vessels and the experimental tows were sampled by an observer. Most of the selective devices were tested under the twin trawl method, with on one side the gear to be tested and on the other, the standard commercial gear. Les facteurs pouvant influer sur la valeur des coefficients de sélectivité mesurés sont explicités. Une étude bibliographique complète le travail et permet d'apprécier les incertitudes qui demeurent tant dans le choix de la méthode la meilleure que dans la mesure qu'elle permet. |

| In the context of the new European Common Fisheries Policy and in particular the Landing Obligation, this report synthesizes the trials which were carried out between 2014 and 2016 on French bottom trawlers operating in the Celtic Sea and Western Channel, to decrease their discards. All the detail of the experiments and their results are attached in the voluminous appendices. | On the French Mediterranean coasts, trawl fishing used to be practiced exclusively with two-sided nets until the middle of the 1970s. The adoption of four-sided trawls has changed the composition of species and sizes of the trawlers'catches in this area. Experimental fisheries conducted in the Gulf of Lion on board a research vessel belonging to the IFREMER enabled the study of the selectivity parameters of a four-sided bottom trawl with a wrapping double-pocket. Three pockets of different meshes were tried out on various demersal and pelagic species. The collected data was processed through different selectivity analysis methods. Presented here is an assessment of the relative efficiency of each of these seven methods. |
