Este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar os efeitos da raça, dieta, época do ano e ordem de parição na concentração de imunoglobulina G (IgG) no colostro de porcas. A concentração de IgG foi determinada no colostro de 60 porcas, 33 da raça Large White e 27 da raça Landrace, submetidas a dietas contendo 0%, 7%, 14% e 21% de levedura seca (LS). A levedura seca de destilaria de álcool de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) substituiu parte do milho e do farelo de soja da ração mantendo o nível de 14% de proteína bruta. Não foi verificado efeito significativo (P>0,05) de raça e da dieta sobre a concentração de IgG do colostro. The aim of this study was to verify the association of sow body weight development until the 1st weaning with reproductive performance, piglet production and culling rate until the 3rd farrowing in 196 primiparous sows using logistic regression models. Each 10kg increase in weight gain in the 1stpregnancy (OR= 0.63), weight at 1st farrowing (OR= 0.70), weight at the 1st weaning (OR= 0.73) or weight gain from the 1startificial insemination (AI) to the 1st weaning (OR= 0.67) decreased the percentage of primiparous sows with long weaning-to-oestrus interval - WOI (>5 days). O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar se a ingestão diária de diferentes quantidades de lisina digestível, pelas fêmeas suínas primíparas em lactação, influencia o desempenho produtivo, reprodutivo e o perfil sangüíneo dessas matrizes. Utilizaram-se inicialmente 50 porcas primíparas em lactação, distribuídas em 5 tratamentos (10 animais por tratamento), correspondendo a 0,88; 0,99; 1,04; 1,08 e 1,24% de lisina digestível na ração. Sows produce a larger number of fetuses than before and these fetuses possess genetic potentials to grow faster than before. Recent comparison shows that a porcine fetus is 40% heavier than 40 years ago. Thus the nutritional management of sows has been updated to reflect these genetic changes. Our recent study quantified nutritional needs for sows to support the growth of fetuses and mammary glands during gestation. Amino acid needs for fetal growth and mammary growth during late gestation (d 70 to farrowing) significantly greater than those needs during early gestation (until d 70). The main objectives of this study were to verify the relationship among body condition at parturition, decrease of backfat thickness and weight during the lactation and the interval from weaning to oestrus of sows. It was performed with 10 gilts and 10 fifth, sixth and seventh parity Camborough sows. The average breeding age and weight of the gilts were respectively 231 days and 149.5 kg. During lactation all females were fed a wet diet (3.34 Mcal/kg, 17% CP), ad libitum. The average daily food consumption was 5.233 for gilts and 5.721 kg for multiparous sows. ABSTRACT: Fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) is a reproductive technology that aids in obtaining an appropriate time to perform single artificial insemination (AI), thus reducing the number of inseminations per sow bred. FTAI protocols can either be based on estrus detection or day of weaning, aiming to synchronize ovulation using ovulation inducers. The protocols involving estrus detection usually employ porcine luteinizing hormone (pLH) as an inducer and, in general, satisfactory reproductive performance is observed. For protocols based on weaning day, the main hormone used is analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone such as triptorelin and buserelin. The aim of this study was to verify the impact of adding vinasse as an acidifier in sows diet during the lactating period and its effect on litter. A total of 14 agroceres females were used from the first day of lactation until weaning. The vinasse was obtained in a mill near the experimental facility and was stored in sterilized barrels. Animals were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design into two treatments: control liquid diet and liquid diet with the inclusion of vinasse in each feed supply of the day. The genetic parameters in all models were evaluated. In model I, single-trait animal model, each parity was considered as a different trait. Thirty crossbred sows (Yorkshire x Landrace) at their second pregnancy were used to investigate the effect of herbal mixture (Herbatob-Mix®) at levels of 0.05% in gestation and 0.10% in lactation diets. Sows were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 = control group, group 2 = added herbal mixture at 16 days of gestation period until lactation period at 21 days and group 3 = added herbal mixture at 84 days of gestation period in which the supplementation levels similars as group 2.
