La inocuidad es un requisito importante de aceptación en el jitomate (Lycopersicum esculentum L.), para permitirle abrir nuevos mercados. En los que además, el fruto debe cumplir con ciertos estándares de calidad relacionados con sus propiedades físicas y químicas. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo determinar las propiedades físicas y químicas del fruto de jitomate almacenado a diferentes temperaturas en presencia de Escherichia coli (ECET). Abstract Storage of tubers is vital for uninterrupted supply to potato chips/fries industry. Cold storage is preferred to maintain tuber quality. However, prolonged storage at low temperature results in cold induced sweetening (CIS) leading to sugar accumulation and browning of chips. Slowing down the CIS is of economic importance for potato industry. Screening of potatoes after cold storage for low sugar and invertase activity with exploration of best frying color was the aim of current study. Chemical and physical composition of grain-type and food-type soybean for food processing PAB

The objective of this work was to evaluate the chemical and physical characteristics of grains of soybean (Glycine max) cultivars for food processing. The soybean cultivars evaluated were: grain-type - BRS 133 and BRS 258; food-type - BRS 213 (null lipoxygenases), BRS 267 (vegetable-type) and BRS 216 (small grain size). BRS 267 and BRS 216 cultivars showed higher protein content, indicating that they could promote superior nutritional value. BRS 213 cultivar showed the lowest lipoxygenase activity, and BRS 267, the lowest hexanal content. These characteristics can improve soyfood flavor. In this experiment the chlorophyll and carbohydrate contents of Arachis pintoi were evaluated to verify if the presence of nitrogen in the soil could contribute to the effectiveness of the establishment of this legume. The design was completely randomized, in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement, with four N rates (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1) and four irrigation levels (25, 50, 75 and 100% of field capacity), with four replications. Adsorption equilibrium of fructose, glucose and sucrose was evaluated on sulfonated poly(styrene-codivinylbenzene) cation-exchange resins. Two types of resins were used: potassium (K+) gel-type and sodium (Na+) macroporous resins. Influence of the cation and effect of the resin structure on adsorption were studied. The adsorption isotherms were determined by the static method in batch mode for monocomponent and multi-component sugar mixtures, at 25 and 40 ◦C, in a range of concentrations between 5 and 250 g L−1. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as alterações na composição química de sementes de azevém anual (Lolium multiflorum Lam.), cultivar Comum-RS, em resposta ao retardamento da secagem (0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36 e 48 horas) e ao armazenamento (zero, quatro e oito meses), e correlacionar tais alterações com a qualidade fisiológica. A secagem foi retardada por meio do acondicionamento das sementes em caixas de poliestireno, contendo cada uma 24 kg de sementes, e realizada sobre piso de concreto, à sombra, por 12 horas, completando-a em estufa com circulação de ar.  Tissue culture techniques have been employed for orchid mass propagation by means of the morphogenetic route of protocorm like-bodies (PLBs). This study aimed to analyze and compare Indole-acetic acid (IAA) and sugar endogenous levels in protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) induction and development in Cattleya tigrina, in order to better understand this process and to optimize micropropagation procedure protocols. Chase is a native C3 grass species with high biomass production and abundance in the cerrado comparable to Melinis minutiflora Beauv., a C4 forage grass of African origin, widespread in the cerrado, displacing some native herbaceous species. Abstract Guava is very delicate and alluring fruit which is being ignored since very long time despite of highly nutritious fruit and rich source of Vitamin C. It contains Vitamin C 2-3 times more than orange. Naturally the guava fruit is enriched with vitamin C and polyphenoles. Guavas fruits after harvesting were dunked in solutions of CaCl2 (1, 2 and 3%) at room temperature for 5 minutes and stored for 24 days in 5% CO2 level at temperature of 10±1°C, while the humidity level of storage chamber were 80%. Active vegetative and reproductive growth in field-grown trees of Coffea arabica L. in Viçosa (20º45’S, 650 m altitude), south-eastern Brazil, occur concurrently. The overall patterns of branch growth and leaf area gain were to a certain extent altered by fruit removal, with growth rates being remarkably greater in de-fruited trees. The content of N-NO3 was not affected by fruiting, whilst that of amino-N was greater in de-fruited than fruiting trees most of the time, but the differences were not large enough to have significantly contributed to the increased growth rates in de-fruited trees. As seasonal products chestnuts have to be postharvest treated to increase their shelf-life. The most common preservation method for chestnuts is the use of chemical fumigation with methyl bromide, a toxic agent that is under strictly use under Montreal Protocol due to its adverse effects on human health and environment. Food irradiation is a possible feasible alternative to substitute the traditional quarantine chemical fumigation treatment. Irradiation has been regaining interest as an alternative technology to increase food products shelf-life. In the present work, the effects of low dose gamma irradiation on sugars, fatty acids and tocopherols composition of chestnuts stored at 4 ºC for different storage periods (0, 30 and 60 days) was evaluated.
