A New Look at the Agricultural Community as Extension Clientele in the West AgEcon
Tranel, Jeffrey E.; Hewlett, John P.; Weigel, Randolph R.; Rahman, Tauhidur; Teegerstrom, Trent; Ehmke, Cole.
This report presents the preliminary results of a statistically valid 2006 survey of small agricultural producers (sales of less than $50,000) in three Western states (Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona). The West has undergone significant change, and the composition of farm managers has changed with it. This report provides information from farm operators in the rural West on their perceived threats as well as characteristics of themselves and their operations. Topics of interest were demographics, reasons for involvement in agriculture, income, resource management (crops and livestock), and preferences for information delivery. The project was supported by the Western Center for Risk Management Education.

Grain size-, facies- and sequence analysis of West Belgian Eocene continental shelf deposits OMA
Jacobs, P.; Sevens, E.; De Batist, M.; Henriet, J.-P..
Grain size trends and sedimentary structures of Eocene continental shelf deposits from offshore and onshore drillings in West Belgium were combined for reconstruction of depositional environments. The VAIL-model for siliciclastic sedimentation on shelf margins allows systems tracts identification on basis of grain size signals. The (put into revision) Eocene lithostratigraphy could therefore be transferred into sequence stratigraphy.Sediment genetic interpretation of sedimentary structures and grain size trends, together with sediment supply indications, suggests a Pre-Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta high on the shelf as depositional system.

Evaluation of rice genetic resources was conducted in 2012 wet season at 5 rice research centers, namely, Pathum Thani, Suphan Buri, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri and Ratchaburi. Morphological data were collected from 280 accessions. Lowland rice accessions with the earliest heading date was IR 58025 B (G.S. No. 18443); the latest heading date was KHAO SUPAN (G.S. No. 9585); the highest panicle number was SUPHANBURI 2 (G.S. No. 13746); the longest panicle was KHAO PAHK MAW (G.S. No. 991). Floating rice accessions with the earliest heading date was KHAO GAEW (G.S. No. 20384); the latest heading date was KHAO MED LEK (G.S. No. 14156); Keywords: rice, genetic resources, morphological evaluation some of the highest panicle number were LEUANG YAI CHUEY (G.S. No....
